JuiceFeasting 2010: Day 5

Today is the end of Day 5. It was a good day, my spirits are high and I feel great.

Juices

I drank:

  • 1 quart carrot, spinach, and 1 apple
  • 1 quart cantaloupe
  • 1 quart watermelon
  • 1 quart celery, cucumber, garlic, cilantro, tomato

I am only getting in about 1 pound of leefy greens a day. I am not sure how to get two. If I have 2 fruit juices, and 1 celery juice, I just don’t see where to put the 2 pounds of green leafy veggies. This is something I am not really worried about right now, but I will tackle when I am back home. Right now, I am prey happy if I just manage to get in 4 juices.

Today I drank both my fruit juices in about 10 minutes! But my green juices took about 25.

Exercise

Today, I had a lovely 2 mile walk on the beach. I took about 90 minutes with all the running away from waves and then walking back towards them again :D

I really enjoyed that time outside and it felt great to be moving that long. Yeah, I walked at a bit of a slow pace, but it felt wonderful. I really enjoyed being out in the sun. My body really seemed to respond to that even though usually I don’t care much about being in direct sunlight.

Detox

My teeth and mouth still feel very fuzzy. I think I need to remember to swish my mouth out more after juicing. I am going to work on that.

I am still having a lot of icky stuff on my tongue every day. Blah, but I am glad my body is getting rid of it.

I am sleeping a bit more then usual, but I wake up just fine to my alarm. Last night I slept 8.5 hours which is quite a bit more then the 6 hours I typically like. I probably would have kept on sleeping too if it was not for the alarm.

No runny nose or goopy eyes today. I enjoyed that very much. I stand corrected, right after I wrote this, I sneezed and now have to blow my nose. Not too bad though :)

Food

Ah, food how you tormented me so today. I was not hungry today, but with all the food I am making for people, it was hard to resist even though I don’t want it and don’t even like the food I was making!

The hardest thing was the fries. I have talked before about how much I enjoy fries, and how on raw that is what I missed the most which was odd since I didn’t actually eat fries all that often. I am hoping juice feasting gets the want for fries out of my system for good!

One of the things that got me through it today was that I was on day 5 and I sure as heck did not want to have to start all over again at day 1. Also, since I want to be raw all year, I can’t have fries anyway. It was kinda hard to look and think that some food I want to eat is that far away, but then I really thought about it.

There is only 351 days left until I can have whatever I want. Only 95 days until I can have a salad and watermelon that has not been juiced. I can do almost anything for that long especially when it has the potential to have such huge rewards.

If I try it and I don’t like it, I can always go back to cooked vegan in a year, but what I have to gain is huge. It is ok to work out my discipline muscle a bit and try this experience for a while. I don’t think that I am doing anything to my body that is so horrible, I will ruin my life. I can do this!

So day 5 has come to an end. I will head to bed early and enjoy my last full day tomorrow in LA trying to (and succeeding) juice on the road.
