Raw Food Trial: Day 27

Detox and Weight

Today i weigh the same as i did yesterday for a total lose of 12.5 pounds since the start of this trial.

I had a bit of a runny nose today.  My energy seems to be up, i also seem to be sleeping alot.  Alot for me is about 7 hours.
I am getting alot more variety in my diet which  really enjoy.  Today, i bought some food down to visit some friends.  I packed a little extra incase i ended up staying late again.  However, the food got eaten by her 5 year old son who really took a liking to my grapes. I brought about 50 grapes, and i got 5.  I was happy to share and see his face smile every time he ran up and chanted, “grape grape grape” until he got one.  He would smile widely and pop it in his mouth, and i would tell him to chew really well.  He would bounce off and come back 30 seconds later chanting “grape, grape, grape” again.  I stopped eating them when i saw he wanted them, so he would get as much as he wanted.  I love how many kids naturally love fruit.
My energy levels are very stable all day long.  I am not crashing during the day or feeling sleepy after eating.  It feels so good to not get sleepy after food.
I have been drinking alot more water this past couple days and it seems to help alot.  I am alot more thirsty which is helping me drink.  I love water so it is nice to want it again.
I notice to that my cravings for heavy food (avocado, nuts, etc) are way down.  At the beginning of the trial, i ate 2 avocados a day.  I would often want more.  Today, i had half of one, and it felt like a lot.

Food

I ate alot on the go today.  For breakfast i had a smoothie.  Since some people have asked for the recipie to my banana-strawberry morning smoothie, i thought i would share it here.

1 banana
large handful of frozen strawberries
about 1 cup spinach
about 1 cup water
1 tsp viatamineral green
1/2 the scoop size of sun warrior protein powder (i use vanilla flavored)

I put the first 4 ingredients in, then when a whirlpool has been created, i put in the the last two so it goes right into the smoothie and does not get stuck on the sides.
I use a vita-mix blender, if you have a weaker blender, you may have to add water.

if i am really hungry, i may put 2 bananas and some extra spinach with a a bit more of the powders.  Today, i just had the single sized smoothie for breakfast.

For lunch, i packed, some soaked oat groats, with banana, dates, pecans, and cinnamon cashew milk. I also had a plum on the side.
I took out my grapes to eat them, and we all saw how that turned out :)
On the drive home, i had a handful of soaked almonds.

For dinner, i had a sandwich made of the zucchini bread, hummus, cucumber, tomato, avocado, and i had the left over tomato on the side.  A bit later, i got hungry and had another tomato.

Pictures of this stuff are coming!

Day 27

This morning I fancied myself a mad scientist and tried something new for breakfast.  It was a concoction that Adrienne made a couple of days ago and raved about, so I thought I would try it.  It was comprised of bananas, groats, walnuts, and cinnamon.  I enjoyed it, but it was a bit difficult to chew.  When I told Adrienne of my daringness (she was thrilled) and my difficulty, she asked if I had added cashew milk….I had not.  Next time I will add the cashew milk for chewing ease, but I really enjoyed it regardless.  I had smoothies again today, happiness.  I snacked throughout the rest of the day, trying to be more conscious about variety and trying new things.  The interesting result is that it seems that I have started another detox…yay.  And here I was sitting here wondering why I was itchy.  However, I must admit that I am glad to be getting as much as I can from this experience (even with the short amount of time left).  To date I have lost a total of approximately 10 lbs :D , sweet.

I still have cravings.  Honestly, they never stopped.  Tonight while I was working at my desk I got this crazy craving for a grilled cheese sandwich (interesting because I haven’t graved one in a rather long while) and I smiled at the thought of being able to have one in a couple days time.

I still have not come to any final decisions about where my eating habits will go from here, but I doubt it will go back to the way it was (which I’m happy about).

And I give you, today’s joke:

Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson went on a camping trip. As they lay down for the night, Holmes said:” Watson, look up into the sky and tell me what you see?”

Watson said, “I see millions and millions of stars.”

Holmes: “And what does that tell you?”

Watson: “Astronomically, it tells me that there are millions of galaxies and potentially billions of planets. Theologically, it tells me that God is great and that we are small and insignificant. Meteorogically, it tells me that we will have a beautiful day tomorrow. What does it tell you?”

Holmes: “Somebody stole our tent.”

Cheers,

Lindsay
